Improvement works and benefits
We are investing around £69 million in essential repairs and improvements to Cables Wynd House and Linksview House in Leith. The improvements are part of a across the city.
These high-rise blocks were built in the 1960s and their age and condition are contributing factors to some of the repairs issues residents experience in their homes. We are planning major refurbishments which will help to resolve these issues and make them safer, warmer and more comfortable places to live.
The improvements will include

- Enclosed lobby areas
- External concrete repairs
- Improvements to the area outside the buildings to create nice community spaces
- New communal facilities
- New concierge facilities
- New heating systems
- New insulation
- New roofs
- New sprinkler systems and fire doors
- New ventilation systems
- New water and waste pipes
- New windows and doors
- Refurbished entryways
- Rewiring
